Heather Kadar

Photo Artist | Master Portrait Retoucher

I have 25+ years experience in all things to do with people photography. From starting my photo journey exclusively with film, hand-printing in a darkroom with fiber based paper, to making the digital transition, I have a solid base in all aspects of modern day photography.

The Process

My goal is to create a lasting work relationship with your studio and to understand your creative vision for your work. Before we start working together, we will book a discover call to see if we're a good fit.

WORKING TOGETHER

If you have a solid grasp on your studio lighting and styling, the standard rate should apply. If you're looking for extensive retouching and composite work which takes more time and creativity, let's talk.   Starting at $15 per image.
Picture

First

You email me one small .jpg file (2100 ppi / long edge) of your assignment with any special instructions.

Second

I'll send you a no-obligation quote. If you approve quote, I will email you a sample edit.*

Third

We agree on the retouching terms. Paid-in-full before release of images.
*The first sample edit is intended as a template for how you like to see your finished images. If you approve of my retouching work, then we will move forward with the remaining images in the assignment.

FAQs

How much do you charge?
It varies. I generally work on a project basis. If you’re a professional studio with beautiful lighting and styling, a typical head-shot is $15 per image. If you email me a small jpeg and description of the project, I’ll reply with a no-obligation quote.

How quickly do you work?
Most projects can be completed in 24 to 48 hours. I have an efficient workflow and excellent work ethic. I do my best to be sensitive to your needs.
I haven’t worked with a retoucher before, how does it work?
Simple:
1. Email me a small jpeg and description of the project. I’ll reply with a no-obligation quote.
2. If you wish to proceed, send me the high resolution file(s) and any additional instructions.
3. I will work on the project, contacting you with any questions.
4. I then email you a low res jpeg for approval. If revisions are necessary, I’ll go back to step 3.
5. Once approved, I will send you a link to make payment.
6. Once paid, you will be able to download the high resolution file.

I live in another state, can I still work with you?
Yes! I like to do a Zoom call to make sure we're a good fit. Then we're off to the races.
How do we exchange files?
Low resolution jpegs can simply be emailed.
High resolution files should be saved into a .zip file. If under 10MB, the file can be safely emailed.
For larger / multiple files, Dropbox, Hightail or any other online file transfer service will work. I usually use my own private online gallery for sending you our completed images.
For very large orders or multiple files, it may be necessary to mail a portable drive.

What forms of payment do you accept?
I’ll email you an invoice where you can pay securely online. Payment is due before the release of photos.
Can I send you royalty-free images to work with?
Yes. I commonly receive royalty-free and stock images for composite work.
Will you work on any type of subject matter?
I withhold the right to refuse a project for any reason. I don't reject any work based solely on category or genre.
Can you handle large format images?
Yes, I’ve worked on many extremely large images, including billboards and large format displays. Because of their enormous size, these images typically require extra time.
Do you restore personal photographs?
I typically work business to business only, but on occasion I’m asked to do photo restoration and other personal projects. Contact me for more information.
Are you a Photographer?
Yes, I’ve been a full-time photographer for 25+ years.
Are you the actual retoucher?
Yes, I am! I do not outsource any work. Photography is an art and I love retouching.
